Fair Trade is a partnership between producers and consumers which ensures
producers receive good working conditions and fair prices.
Fair Trade principles include:
Paying fair prices to the producers which
reflect the true cost of production –
world market prices often do not cover
even the cost of the raw materials.

There are a variety of groups involved in the fair trade movement. For handicraft products IFAT (The International Fair Trade Association) monitors producer groups in the developing world, and BAFTS (The British Association of Fair Trade Shops) monitors Fair Trade importers and retailers in the UK. Just Bazaar is a member of BAFTS and only purchases handicraft products from BAFTS registered importers, this guarantees that all our products are manufactured in line with the Fair Trade principles detailed above. The Fairtrade Foundation monitors producers of agricultural products, the Fairtrade logo makes such products easily distinguishable. The Fairtrade Foundation allocates this mark to individual products, whereas IFAT and BAFTS only associate themselves with companies which are wholly Fair Trade.
